Choices (AODA prevention)

  • You have a choice.
  • Every choice has a consequence.
  • If you give in to fear, you'll make bad choices.
  • The loving choice is always the best choice.  (Is it good for others?  Is it good for me?  Is it good for society?)

Creating an Unshakeable Self Image

  • Society's system of self worth…  (Popularity, Possessions, Prestige, Appearance, Pleasure, Power)
  • Society's system (Doesn't work; Is not fair; Can be controlling)
  • Unshakable Self-Image includes… (Making decisions which build a sense of self worth.  Uniqueness and identity.  Fighting against systems or beliefs that devalue self worth.)

VCR (Bob's most requested presentation)

  • Value

Each person is valuable and has tremendous worth, no matter what happens to them.

Hold tight to life, and do not discard it, even when times get tough.

  • Courage

Each person can say no to destructive choices.

Each person can have the courage to stand up for what's right.

Don't go with the crowd…make the choice that's best for you, others and society

  • Respect

Respect each other without building walls of division.

Courage without respect is no better than violence (i.e. gangs), and will destroy us.

Respect diversities, since our differences make us unique.

Youth Making a Difference

The focus of this talk is to challenge youth to be responsible people.  They will be challenged in areas of:

  • Character: Building and having character verses being a character.
  • Leadership: Setting the standard and the pace verses settling for status quo.
  • Service: Lending a hand and helping others verses looking out for "number one".
